Essex freshman Sophie Madden's T30 finish in 

big Florida field

Sophie Madden, from Essex, a first-year student at Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale in Florida, finished a creditable T30 in a field of 104 players at the Bearcat Spring Classic which ended yesterday at El Campeon Golf Club, Howey in the Hills, Florida. 

Sophie, pictured, had scores of 81, 79 and 81 over a par-72 course of 6,195yd for a total of 241 - 20 shots behind the runaway winner, by eight strokes, Tara Liebert (Cincinnati) (77-73-71 for 221).
Cincinnati (929) also wn the team title ahead of Akron (945), Jacksonville 9947), Georgia Southern (951) and Nova Southeastern (952) in a field of 17 teams.
