HANNAH McCOOK PRODUCES THE ROUND OF THE DAY TO SHARE SECOND PLACE AT ASHBURNHAM

Hannah McCook from Grantown on Spey turned in an excellent second round of four-under-par 69 - 11 strokes fewer than her first-day effort - to be lying joint second after two rounds of the prestigious Welsh women's open amateur stroke play golf championship at the tough Ashburnham links.

Hannah had eagle 3s at the second and fifth as well as birdies at the ninth, 10th and 13th in halves of 33 (four under par) and 36 (level par). Her score was seven shots under the CSS of 76 for the round.

McCook is sharing second place with Lianna Bailey (Kirby Muxloe), one behind the new leader, Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest) who has scored 75 and 73 for 148.

First-round leader Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) fell back to 152 with a second=round 79.

Anglo Scot Gemma Batty (Moffat) is T10 on 154 with a pair of 77s while Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) is on 159 with rounds of 81 and 78 for a T25 position.
