TOP SEEDS TUMPLE IN ABERDEENSHIRE COUNTY GOLF

TOP SEEDS TUMBLE IN ABERDEENSHIRE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP AT CRUDEN BAY

Sammy Leslie (Aberdeen Ladies), bidding to win the Aberdeenshire women's county championship for the third year in a row and the fourth time in the past five years, was knocked out in the first round of this year's match-play stages at Cruden Bay today.

She was beaten 2 and 1 by Molly Stewart (Murcar Links) who went on to beat the No 2 seed and senior international Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies) by one hole.

In Sunday morning's semi-final (9.15am), Stewart, 10th of the 16 qualifiers for the match-play stages, will play Carol Wilson (Murcar Links), the sixth seed.

The other semi-final will feature Fiona Campbell (McDonald Ellon), conqueror by 3 and 1 of top seed Gillian Mackenzie (Banchory) in the quarter-finals against Donna Pocock (Kemnay). Campbell was the eighth qualifier and Pocock No 5.
