ANGLO SCOT GEMMA SHARING FOURTH PLACE IN WALES

MOFFAT PLAYER SHARING FOURTH PLACE IN WELSH STROKE PLAY

Anglo-Scot Gemma Batty (Moffat) pictured left is sharing fourth place on 77, three shots behind first-round leader Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) in the Welsh women's open amateur stroke play championship at Ashburnham.
Lamb, chasing a place in the GB and I Vagliano Trophy team for Italy in June, leads by two from another contender, Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest) with the little known Cara Gainer (castle Royle) in third place on 76.
Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) is the second best Scot after 18 holes. She shot an 80, which was the CSS for the day, to be sharing 15th place overnight, a shot ahead of Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) who took 41 shots for the first nine.
Hazel MacGarvie (Troon Ladies) had an 83, Jennifer Saxton (Muckhart) an 85 and former Scottish champion Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw) an 86 which leaves her sharing 51st place.
