Sammy Leslie (Aberdeen Ladies), bidding to win the Aberdeenshire women's county championship for the third year in a row and the fourth time in the past five years, was knocked out in the first round of this year's match-play stages at Cruden Bay today.
She was beaten 2 and 1 by Molly Stewart (Murcar Links) who will now play the No 2 seed and senior international, Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies), a 6 and 5 winner over Sally Collinson (Westhill).
Leading qualifier Gillian Mackenzie (Banchory) won her opening tie by 3 and 2 against Cruden Bay's Lynne Terry). Mackenzie now plays Fiona Campbell (McDonald Ellon) who beat Morven Adam (Hazlehead) 2 and 1
