SCOTT CRICHTON QUALIFIES

FOR NCAA Div 2 CHAMPIONSHIP

Aberdour Golf Club member Scott Crichton, in his last few weeks as a student at Western New Mexico College, finished joint fifth in a field of 108 players for the NCAA Division 2 Men's Central/West Super Regional Championship at Classic Club, Palm Desert, California this week.
The Fifer, from Dalgety Bay, and his college team thus qualified to play in the NCAA Division 2 championship at Sagamore Club, Noblesville, Indiana from May 18 to 21.
Crighton, a former pupil of Inverkeithing High School, had rounds of 73, 71 and 74 for a two-over-par total of 218 over the par-72, 7,100yd course.
Team-mate Steven Maxwell, a third-year student from Glasgow and a former pupil at Bearsden Academy, finished joint 39th on 225 with scores of 78, 74 and 73.
Janssen Todd (Sonoma State) was the individual winner by three strokes with scores of 72, 72 and 70 for 214.
Western New Mexico (886) were runners-up to Sonoma State University (863) in the team event, contested by 19 squads.
