KERRY SMITH WINS WENTWORTH SCRATCH TROPHY


FORMER Curtis Cup player Kerry Smith from Waterlooville, Hampshire won the Wentworth Scratch Trophy by five strokes today.
Kerry had a brilliant, four-under-par score of 71 over the West Course and then a two-under-par 72 round the Edinburgh lay-out for a six-under-par total of 143.
Her nearest challenger was England team-mate, Nicola Timmins from Sene Valley. School teacher Nicola had scores of 73 and 75 for 148.
Former Irish champion and civil engineer Alison Coffey (Warrenpoint) finished third with an 80 on the West Course and a 71 on the No 2 circuit for 151.
