ENGLISH WOMEN'S CLOSE STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

SOPHIE WINS ANOTHER NATIONAL TITLE
Sophie Walker from Lincolnshire, a former winner of the English girls championship and still only 18 years old, won the English women's close stroke-play championship at Saunton on Thursday.
She had to play 74 holes to do it. Sophie tied with Lisa Ball from Newcastle at 303 and then beat her at the second hole of a sudden death play-off. Lisa had led by five strokes at the start of the final round.
