ALICE, BECKY IN TOP 20 AT NEW ORLEANS

Curtis Cup player Alice Hewson from Berkhamsted, a student at Clemson University, South Carolina, was in joint 20th place with Becky McGeehan (Texas San Antonio) whose father works in Germany, after the first round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate championship at English Turn Golf and Country Club, New Orleans.

They both shot one-over-par 73s over a 6,239yd course.

Marielle Brun (Denver) and Dewi Webber (Miami) share the lead on four-under-par 68.
