INDIA CLYBURN IN WINNING NC STATE TEAM



India Clyburn helps North Carolina State to win Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - North Carolina State University women's golf team, which included India Clyburn from Cleethorpes, pictured right, boasted a final round score of 285 (-3) on Tuesday to win the Lady Puerto Rico Classic team title in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, with a 54-hole total of 877 (+13).

Held at the Rio Mar CC this marks the first team win of the season for the Wolfpack, as three players shot under par to lead the program to the sixth-best 18-hole score recorded in program history.

Additionally, Naomi Ko took medalist honours after firing a 70 (-2) on Tuesday for a one-under 215 on the week. This marks the first individual win of her collegiate career as she won in a scorecard playoff.

"It was such an awesome week with the team in Puerto Rico. We all came together as a team and put in great scores and won the whole event by one shot. We all fought through the heat and wind and I can't tell you how happy I am for our team," said Ko.

No. 7 Furman and No. 15 Kent State finished one stroke behind the Pack with 878 to finish in a tie for second place in the team standings.

Sarah Bae and Leonie Bettel also shot 70 in the final round. Bae collected her first top 10 finish of the season and 15th of her career as she finished in a tie for ninth with a 218 (+2). Bettel moved up 21 spots from Monday on the individual leaderboard, finishing T47th with a 228 (+12).

India Clyburn and Cecily Overbey rounded out the top five with scores of 75 and 77, in respective order. Overbey finished T30th with a three-day total of 225 (+5) and Clyburn wrapped up the weekend with a 226 to finish T38th.

Senior Stephanie Pribonic, who competed as an individual, shot an 81 on Tuesday to finish 71st with a 54-hole score of 236 (+9).

NC State will return to action March 11 when the team plays a dual match at Hawaii. The Pack will also compete in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational March 14-15, hosted by Hawaii.
