Aboyne's 14-year-old Scottish schoolgirls champion Shannon McWilliam had her first ever ace at the 214yd par-3 15th hole - into the wind - with a three wood at Panmure Golf Club, near Carnoustie today .... and the upshot is that she will be heading with the girls' section winner, Stirling student Tara Mactaggart (Minto). to the Nick Faldo Series Grand Final at Greenbrier, West Virginia later in the year.
Mactaggart and McWilliam, who became Aberdeenshire's youngest ever county champion a few weeks ago, drew away from the small girls field at Panmure over the final round at the par-74 course..
Shannon wobbled a bit with a triple bogey 7 at the 12th and a double bogey 7 at the long 14th. But any danger that she would fall back out of second place were dispelled when she holed her tee shot at the 15th.
In fact, McWilliam, who had been three shots off the lead at the start of the round, almost won another title!
She finished with a total of 235 (82-75-78), only one shot behind the girls champion, Mactaggart who had rounds of 75, 79 and 80.

The boys' category winners were:
Under-21s
Andrew Davidson (Charleton)
Under-18s
Niall McMullen (Lundin)
Under-16s
Matthew Dalrymple (Lochwinnoch)
