Stirling student Tara Mactaggat (Minto) leads by one stroke from Jennifer Saxton (Kinross) after two rounds of the 54-hole girls' section of the Nick Faldo Series at Panmore Golf Club, near Carnoustie.
Tara has scored 75-79 for six-over-par 154, Jennifer 81-74 for 155.
Aberdeenshire's youngest ever women's county champion, 14-year-old Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne), recent winner of the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish schoolgirls championship at Murrayshall has moved up into third place with a 75 for 157.
Shannon, who was suffering from very sore knees by the end of the North Division women's inter-county matches at Pitlochry on Monday, moved up into the lead at Panmure with an outward half of 35, followed by an eagle 3 at the long 10th.
But then McWilliam lost her momentum and dropped five strokes over the closing holes - bogeys at 14th and 15th, double bogey at 16 and a bogey at 18 for 40 shots home.
The winner and the runner-up in the girls' competition will go forward to the Grand Final in The Greenbrier, West Virginia, USA later in the year.
