PERTH PAIR STAR AS LYNN UNIVERSITY REACH DIV 2 FINAL

Perth students Daniel Young and Paul McPhee are starring in the Lynn University (Boca Raton, Florida) team who have fought their way through the NCAA Division 2 men's National championship to reach today's final over the Robert Trent Jones at The Shoals course, Florence in Alabama.
Young excelled in the stroke-play rounds which decided the qualifying teams for the match-play stages.
Daniel had rounds of 70, 73 and 69 to tie with Kyle Souza (Chico State) on four-under-par 212, impressive scoring over a 7,150yd (par 72) course).
Souza won the play-off for the individual title at the third play-off hole.
Lynn (864) were the leading qualifiers ahead of No 2 seeds Abilene Christian (878) in a field of 20 teams.
Paul McPhee has come into his own in the match-play stages with key performances as Lynn beat Barton College 4-1 in the quarter-finals and then Central Missouri 3-2 in the semi-finals in which CSU Monterey Bay beat Abilene Christine on a tie-breaker after a 2-2 draw.
So it's Lynn v CSU Monterey Bay for the NCAA Division 2 national title later today.
