PGA CLUB SENIORS

McTEAR SLIPS BACK TO FINISH JOINT

FIFTH IN PGA CLUB SENIORS’ EVENT

 

John McTear could do no better than a two-over-par 74 in the third and final round of the PGA Club Seniors’ championship at King’s Lynn Golf Club, Norfolk today.

That gave the North Gailes Golf Centre staff pro a final total of one-over-par 217 and pushed him down into joint fifth place with a cheque for £1,675.

John, winner of the title in 2001, had three birdies but five bogeys on his third-round scorecard.

England’s Stewart Graham who had been sharing the lead with McTear overenight shot a two-under-par 70 for a total of three-under-par 213 to win the title and the top cash prize of £4,750.

He won by two shots from compatriots Graham Burroughs and David Jagger.

Garry Harvey from Bearsden Golf Range was the second-best Scot with a 72 for joint eighth place on 220, signing off with a 72. He earned £1,066.
