LPGA QUALIFYING SCHOOL SECTION EVENT
VIKKI AND SUSIE HAVE MIXED FORTUNES IN CALIFORNIA
Vikki Laing is sitting pretty but the other member of the Scottish golfing clan, Susie Laing, is the hot seat as the United States LPGA Qualifying School sectional tournament moves into its fourth and final round at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
Rookie pro Vikki from Musselburgh has had rounds of 72, 75 and 71 for a two-over-par tally of 218 which sees her tied for eighth place after 54 holes.
Susannah Laing from Troon, is on a slide - scores of 70, 76 and 79 - and at nine-over-par 225 and sharing 52nd place she has to produce something special in the last round if she is to climb up the scoreboard into one of the top 30 players and ties who will qualify for the LPGA Final Qualifying School at Daytona Beach, Florida from October 21 to 24.
Kent-based Danielle Masters, playing as an amateur and a team-mate of Vikki Laing in the Great Britain & Ireland team who won the Vagliano Trophy contest against the Continent of Europe at Co Louth in late July, is bang on the leading 30 deadline at the moment after scores of 70, 75 and 77 for six-over 222.
Anglo-Scot Kirsty Fisher from Lancashire failed to survive the halfway cut after shooting 78 and 76 for 154, two shots too many to continue playing at Mission Hills.
