EUROPE WIN SOLHEIM CUP BY SEVEN POINTS

THREE SCOTS ALL CREDITED WITH WINS IN FINAL DAY
SINGLES IN SWEDEN

Europe scored their biggest margin of victory in the Solheim Cup when they trounced United States by 17 1/2pt to 10 1/2 at Barseback, Malmo in Sweden today.
The previous biggest win by Europe was at Dalmahoy in 1992 when the margin of victory was 5pt.
Not all of the 12 final-day singles were played to a finish. When Catriona Matthew from North Berwick beat Rosie Jones by 3 and 1 on the 17th, that gave Europe an unassailable lead.
At that point, every match still going on was declared over with the player in the lead at that stage being credited as the winner. Whatever happened to playing the game for the game's sake and also for the spectators?
Anyway, Janice Moodie definitely won the No1 singles ties, beating Kelli Kuehne by 3 and 2.
After Catriona Matthew's win, compatriot Mhairi McKay was declared the winner of her match against Beth Daniel. Mhaii was one up on Beth after 14 holes.
The results were:
(European names first)
Moodie beat Kuehne 3 and 2.
Koch lost to Inkster 5 and 4.
