LADIES GOLF UNION PRESS RELEASE

SWIMMING, RUGBY AND GOLF - NOT TO MENTION THIRTEEN LADY
AMATEURS – MEET AT WENTWORTH FOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

The UK’s leading nutritional health supplements company, Health Perception is delighted to announce that the final of the inaugural Health Perception Ladies’ Golf Championship of Great Britain & Ireland, run in association with The Ladies’ Golf Union, will take place on Wentworth’s famous East Course on Thursday September 25th.

Olympic Gold Medallist swimmer, David Wilkie MBE, the founder and Managing Director of Health Perception, and LGU President, Sue Johnson, will be starting the thirteen talented lady amateurs on their final quest for glory at 12:30pm. The winning presentation will be made by David Wilkie at around 5:45pm.

The 13 finalists, who come from across Great Britain and Ireland, qualified for this new championship by winning both their club qualifying competition and one of the 13 regional finals that took place throughout July and August.

David Wilkie said; "Almost half the golf clubs in the UK and Ireland contributed to the initial entry of some 20,000 lady club players, which makes reaching the Grand Final a massive achievement in itself."

The Wentworth East Course was the venue for the historic match that led to the creation of the Ryder Cup, and was the home of the first Curtis Cup match and is considered one of the finest inland venues in Great Britain & Ireland.

After the competition, the players will be welcomed to a Presentation Dinner in the plush surroundings of the Wentworth Club at which the winner will receive a specially commissioned bronze trophy from David Wilkie, which will be displayed in the new Champion’s club for the next 12 months. All the finalists will be supplied with a gift of golf clothing from Pringle of Scotland, the official suppliers to the Health Perception Ladies’ Championship. In addition, rugby international and keen amateur golfer, Lawrence Dallaglio, will attend the Presentation Dinner only six days before heading off to the Rugby World Cup in Australia.

David added: "This new championship has captured the imagination of many lady golfers and will be a tough competition to win. We are already working with the LGU to make next year’s event even better."

The finalists are below, and are all happy to be interviewed.
