Champion in 1999 and beaten finalist in 2001, Claire lost by 4 and 3 to Maria Dunne (Skerries).
The No 2 seed, Martina Gillen (Beaverstown), a golf scholarship student at Kent State University, Ohio, reached the final with a 3 and 2 win over Helen Jones (Strabane).
