DUMFRIES-SHIRE TAKE LUNCHTIME LEAD AT SOUTHERNESS
Dumfries-shire took a 2-1 lead over Galloway at the end of the morning foursomes on the first day of the Southern Division women's inter-county team championship at Southerness Golf Club today.
It is the first time the three-cornered contest - title-holders Border Counties are the other team - has been held in a condensed, three-day programme.

Foursomes _ S McMurtrie & C Meldrum beat L Wells & C Murray 3 and 1; G Robson & S Martin lost to D McDonald & K Wells 6 and 5; P McGill & J Brydson lost to S McGregor & M McGregor 6 and 4.
Results of six singles will be available in the afternoon.
The champion county at the end of play on Monday will represent the South Division in the Scottish county finals at Scotscraig, North Fife from September 19 to 21.
