HILTON HEAD, S.C. – After taking the lead on the back nine Sunday, the Duke women's golf team couldn't hold on and finished second at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate with a nine-over-par, 861, ledger at the 6,160-yeard, Par 71 Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

Alabama carded a seven-over-par, 859, to win by two strokes over the Blue Devils, while Arizona State (865), South Carolina (876), Georgia (880), Furman (883), Baylor (890), Wake Forest (892), Oklahoma State (895) and North Carolina (897) rounded out the top 10 teams.

Cheyenne Knight of Alabama carded a six-under-par, 65, Sunday in the final round to take home the individual title with an eight-under-par, 205.

Duke placed four golfers in the top six, individually, as senior Sandy Choi was fifth, while freshman Ana Belac, junior Leona Maguire and junior Gurbani Singh placed tied sixth. After the Blue Devils took the lead on the back nine, Duke was held without a birdie over the final nine holes on its way to carding a five-over-par mark over the final nine holes.

For the third straight day, Maguire signed for a one-over-par, 72, on her way to finishing with a three-over-par, 216. A junior native of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire carded her fifth top 10 finish in five tournaments on the 2016-17 campaign. Maguire had an early birdie on the 504-yard, par five third hole, but gave two shots back with her first double-bogey of the season in 13 rounds of golf on hole No. 7. She closed the day with 12 consecutive pars. Maguire hit 14 greens, 12 fairways and had 31 putts in the final round.

Lisa Maguire, who is from Cavan, Ireland, signed for a five-over-par, 76, in the final round to finish tied for 71st. She had birdies on No. 4 and No. 6 in the front nine and played the back nine at only two-over-par to close out the day. Maguire hit 12 fairways, 10 greens and had 31 putts.

Duke will next compete in the Suntrust Gator Invitational March 11-12 in Gainesville, Fla.
