Meghan MacLaren Named C-USA Women’s Golfer of the Week

IRVING, Texas (Sept. 30, 2015) – Florida International University senior Meghan MacLaren has been named the Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29 the league announced on Wednesday.

MacLaren shot a seven-under, 209, to finish fourth in this week's Johnie Imes Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri. MacLaren's three-round total and final place were both season-bests in the young campaign.

The Cambridge, United Kingdom, native shot a season-low 69 in the second round of the three-round event. Her overall score of 209 was three strokes off her career-best 206 which she shot at last year's C-USA Championships. MacLaren recorded two-under, 70s, in both the first and third rounds of the tournament for the seven-under finish.

Her performance helped FIU claim a fifth-place finish among 18 teams. FIU (No. 56) finished better than No. 46 Coastal Carolina (+10), No. 74 USF (+12) and No. 88 UALR (+24).

This is MacLaren's first C-USA Golfer of the Week honour this season and the sixth of her career (March 25, 2015, March 18, 2015, Nov. 5, 2014, Sept. 17, 2014, Oct. 2, 2013).
