BREE ARTHUR WINS AUSTRALIAN LADY PROS' TWO-ROUNDER

Bree Arthur - Moss Vale

Queensland’s Bree Arthur claimed her third ALPG career victory in style edging out former world number one and tournament drawcard Laura Davies and South Africa’s Stacy Bregman by one shot.
It was a particularly sweet victory for Arthur as she was defeated in a playoff for the BWAC Yamba GC ALPG Pro-am last week by France’s Joanna Klatten.
Arthur, playing a few groups ahead of the leaders, shot an impressive 6 under par 67 around the tree lined Moss Vale layout in blustery hot conditions, setting the target of 8 under par in the clubhouse.
Davies couldn’t manage a birdie at any of her closing 10 holes and had to settle for a 3 under par round of 70 and a tie for 2nd place.
She said that she was delighted with her finish after a break of 5 weeks and was really looking forward to the rest of the ALPG summer.
Bregman, playing in the penultimate group stood on the 18th tee tied with Arthur but a missed 3 footer to get into a playoff left Arthur as the delighted Champion.
It was an emotional win for Arthur who dedicated her win to her father Warren who has been dealing with a serious illness in recent weeks. She also paid tribute to her mother Wendy who has been her caddy so far in 2014, and also to her coach Ian Triggs, with whom she has put in a tremendous amount of hard work in recent weeks.
A disappointing end to her season was enough for her to sit back, reassess and make some changes
She reverted to her old driver, worked hard in the gym and with Triggs made some changes that required putting in the hard yards on the practice ground in the oppressive Queensland heat.
The win takes Arthur to the top of the 2014 Club Car Series and with her confidence resurrected she could be a force to be reckoned with when the ALPG tournaments get underway in 2014.
