SCOTS BOYS WIN TEAM TITLE IN BELGIUM
Scotland's Ewen Ferguson (Bearsden) and Ewan Scott (St Andrews) have won the international team event for the Flory Van Donck Cup at the Total Belgian junior international tournament at Royal Golf Club Belgique near Brussels.
Ferguson had rounds of 73, 77, 74 and 70 for a total of 294 while Scott had rounds of 75, 73, 74 and 76 for 298.
That gave Scotland a 72-hole aggregate of 592 which placed them ahead of Italy (596), Belgium (607), Denmark (621), Finland (622) and Canada (656).
Ferguson finished joint third and Scott joint fifth in the boys' individual championship in which the leading final totals were:
290 Gianmaria Rean Trinchero (Italy) 74 70 71 69293 Luigi Batta (Italy) 77 71 69 76
294 Lorenzo Scalise (Italy) 74 76 75 69, Ewen Ferguson (Scotland) 73 77 74 70.
298 John Axelsen (Denmark) 74 74 74 76, Ewan Scotland ) 75 73 74 76.
The Scotland girls did not do so well.
Because Scottish champion Lauren Whyte (St Regulus) did not survive the third-round cut, Scotland did not have a final team total as only Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) played in the fourth round.
She finished joint 22nd on 331 made up of scores of 79, 83, 82 and 87.
The winner was Spain's Andrea Jonama with scores of 78, 77, 71 and 78 for 298. She won by three shots from Belgium's Charlotte de Corte (77-80-73-71 for 301).
