MIELE WOMEN’S INTER-CLUB FOUR-BALL

Co. Meath and  Limerick Golf Clubs

 SEPTEMBER 3 and 10, 2012

The Miele Ireland Inter-club Four-ball golf tournament is now entering the final stages with the last eight clubs from over 200 entrants competing in the Regional Finals over the next two weeks.

In the Northern Regional final Ballycastle do battle with Clandeboye  on Monday 3rd September.  The Eastern Regional Final,  Lucan, will be looking to retain their title from 2011 when they take on a strong Dublin City team.

Bidding to win the Southern Regional Final, Skibbereen are set to face Clonmel .  Teeing up alongside them  in the Western Regional Final Portumna, winner in 2009 play Dunfanaghy  who make their first appearance in a Regional Final of this championship in Limerick on Monday 10^th September.

With 235 golf clubs participating, we are thrilled that 2012 has been the most successful competition in ILGU history and this year's final promises to be our most exciting to date."

Chief Executive of the ILGU, Sinead Heraty, sees Miele’s sponsorship of the competition and support of Irish ladies golf as a great opportunity to accelerate the development of the game at national level, “Miele’s support of the National Fourball competition has seen it firmly established as an important fixture on the national calendar and we look forward to welcoming the Regional Finalists to County Meath and Limerick.”

The knock-out tournament that has been running since late April, four pairs have been playing fourball matchplay against neighbouring clubs on a home and away basis, with the lowest handicap pairings playing extra holes in the event of a tie.  The winners of both sets of Regional Finals progress to the All-Ireland Semi-Finals which are scheduled to take place at Westmasntown Golf Club, 13^th & 14^th October 2012.
