LESLEY HENDRY WINS AYRSHIRE WOMEN'S COUNTY TITLE No SIX

Lesley Hendry (Largs Routenburn) won the Ayrshire women's county golf champion at Troon Portland today for a sixth time in the past nine years.
She beat Mhairi McKay, the West Kilbride youngster with a famous golfing name, by 4 and 3 in the final to add to her previous wins in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010.
Hendry was always in control of the match after winning the first two holes. She ended the match by holing a long putt on the 15th green.
In the morning semi-finals, McKay beat the experienced Jane Finnie by two holes while Hendry was a 4 and 3 winner over Alex Glennie, the 2004 county champion.

Semi-finals - M McKay (West Kilbride) bt J Finnie (Troon Ladies) 2 holes, L Hendry (Largs Routenburn) bt A Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie) 4 and 3.
 Final - Hendry bt McKay 4 and 3.
