France’s Perrine Delacour fired a sensation nine under par final round 64 to win the Irish U18 Strokeplay Championship at Knightsbrook Hotel Spa and Golf Resort in Co. Meath, Sunday 10 April.

Delacour opened steadily with three regulation pars and birdies at four, six, eight and nine saw her turn four under the card. A further birdie at ten saw her tie the leaders on eight under par, two pairings ahead of the final group. Seizing her moment
, she notched birdies at twelve, thirteen, fifteen and sixteen to set the clubhouse lead on twelve under par, a target that was unsurpassed.

The talented Manon Gidali was the nearest to challenge her International teammate after a closing three under par 70 while Ireland’s Leona Maguire leap frogged through the field after closing with a 68 to finish third. Overnight joint leader Lisa Maguire slipped to seventh place after a 74 while Quirine Eijkenboom signed for a 75 to finish eight.

With PING Junior Solheim Cup points being awarded to the top ten competitors, all eyes will be on the Order of Merit table early next week as the race to Knightsbrook heads to the final 162 days. Knightsbrook will host the biennial event for the first time on Irish soil on 20-21 September 2011.
