Top seed Leona Maguire plays Kelsey MacDonald

in first round of French Under-21 match-play

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Five English players, led by national champion Charlie Douglass, have qualified for the matchplay stages of the French lady junior championship at St Cloud.
The top 32 players went through to the knockout after 36 holes of strokeplay qualifying. Charlie qualified in fifth place and is joined by Hayley Davis (8th), Heidi Baek (13th), Alex Peters (17th) and Holly Clyburn (22nd).
In the first round of matchplay Charlie Douglass (Brocket Hall) will play Lara Katzy (Germany); Hayley Davis (Ferndown) plays Mireia Prat (Spain), Heidi Baek (Felixstowe Ferry) is drawn against Lea Charpier (France), Alex Peters (Notts Ladies’) takes on Elisabeth Haavardsholm (Norway); Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) plays Louise Ridderstrom (Sweden).
The top seed is defending champion Leona Maguire of Ireland, who was level par after two rounds and plays Kelsey Macdonald of Scotland.
Kelsey was one of seven players who tied on the cut-off mark of 152 and who played-off for the last four places.
England’s Hannah Barwood (Knowle) missed out on the play-off by one shot.Leona Maguire paired up with her twin, Lisa, to win the Vilmorin Cup, which was contested by 16 national teams over the qualifying rounds. France were runners-up and England I were third, represented by Hannah Barwood, Holly Clyburn and Charlie Douglass.
