LADIES BRITISH OPEN AMATEUR
NORDQVIST v MOZO FOR TITLE
Anna Nordqvist, 19, from Stockholm, and Belen Mozo, 18, from Cadiz met in this afternoon's 18-hole final of the Ladies British open amateur golf championship at Royal County Down GC, Newcastle in Northern Ireland.
Anna, the reigning British girls' champion, was bidding to become the first player in golfing history to hold the Under-18 and the women's titles at the same time.
Miss Nordqvist, two down after 10 holes finished strongly to beat Maria Hernandez (Spain) by 2 and 1 with five-under-par figures in this morning's first semi-final.
Miss Mozo, the No 3 qualifier who has played very well all week, overpowered Naomi Edwards (Ganton) by 7 and 6 with two-over-par figures in the second semi-final.
