WELSH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

CURTIS CUP SELECTION ANNA TOPPLES CHAMPION

Anna Highgate, Wales' only representative in the Great Britain & Ireland team for the Curtis Cup match against the United States at Formby on June 12-13, beat defending champion Kate Phillips by 6 and 5 in the quarter-finals of the Welsh women's amateur championship at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on Monday.
Southerndown member Anna now plays left-hander Stephanie Evans (Vale of Llangollen) for a place in the final against the winner of the other semi-final between home course player Lydia Hall and former Curtis Cup player Sarah Jones (Pennard).
