HANNAH'S CLOSING 68 EARNS HER FIFTH PLACE IN ARGENTINA FINISH

Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) pictured left with Ireland's Paula  Grant shot a final round of four-under-par 68, the joint lowest score of the day, to finish fifth in a field of 52 at the South America women's amateur golf championship at Martindale Country Club, Buenos Aires in Argentina today (Tuesday).

Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) returned a closing 77 to finish joint 13th on 293.

McCook's earlier rounds were 72, 73 and 74. Her total of one-under 287 was five strokes behind the winner,  Milagros Chaves (Paraguay) who had scores of 68, 74, 70 and 71 for a six-under aggregate of 282, one stroke ahead of Columbia's Silvia Garces with Paula Grant from Ireland in third place on 284

Paula started the tournament slowly but quickened her pace with subsequent rounds of 76, 72, 67 and 69 to boost her chances of selection for the GB and I team for the Curtis Cup match in June against the USA at Quaker Ridge, New York State.
