Linn Grant conquered North Berwick today to win the British Ladies Amateur Stroke Play Championship by three strokes from Annabel Wilson (Lurgan) and Hannah Screen (Berkhamsted).
Her 4 under, four round score of 288 included a 68,  which was the best round of the tournament,  and equalled Anna Nordqvist's record score when she qualified for the British Ladies Championship in 2008.

The finish was closer than it looks,  as at one time Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest), and at another time Hannah Screen were in the lead.  However a birdie-birdie finish from the Swede, and bogeys in the final stretch from the others,  ensured another prize to add to the Helen Holm already in the Grant Trophy cabinet.

You might query that the surname Grant does not sound Swedish,  and in her speech at the prize-giving Linn revealed that her grandfather had won the Scottish Boys Championship over the West Links at North Berwick in 1958.

Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) was the top Scot in tied 9th position on 300 and won the Angela Uzielli Trophy for the best score in the Over 23  category.  Incidentally,  the first three players, viz. Grant, Wilson and Screen, are all under 18.

Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) was 13th on 304, Chloe Goadby (St Regulus)  tied 22nd on 309 and Hazel MacGarvie (Ladies Golf Club, Troon)  tied 25th on 311
