MARTINE POW IN SEMI-FINALS WITH JAMIESON, RAMSAY, MARSHALL

Selkirk's Martine Pow, British women's mid-amateur title-winner in 2006, the year she was also Scottish women's amateur champion, is through to the semi-finals of the Strathtyrum Tournament at St Andrews.
She beat Tara Rodenhurst (Ludlow) by 5 and 4 in the morning second round and then won by one hole against Barbara Jamieson (Heswall) in the quarter-finals.
The good run by Royal Dornoch's Cara Thompson ended in the quarter-finals when she was beaten 3 and 2 by Karen Marshall (Baberton), bidding for a seventh win in the tournament since 1997.
Lucy Jamieson (Heswall) is the only English competitor in the last four having KOd former Scotland international Fiona Norris (Hamilton) by 4 and 3 in the second round and then Zoe Ridgway (Tytherington) by 5 and 4 in the round of the last eight.
She will play Pow in the first semi-final. The second tie will be contested by Marshall and Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir), many times Angus county champion and winner of the "Strathtyrum" in 2014.
