Lucy Jamieson beats Scots Pow and Marshall to win Strathtyrum Tournament

Lucy Jamieson, a member at Heswall Golf Club, Merseyside and the only English player to reach the semi-finals of the annual Strathtyrum Tournament for women amateurs at the St Andrews course, claimed the scalps of two Scots today (Friday) on her way to winning the prestigious tournament.
First Lucy beat Martine Pow (Selkirk), who, in 2006, won both the British women's mid-amateur and Scottish women's amateur championships, by 4 and 3 in the semi-finals.
Then she followed that up with a one-hole victory in the final over Karen Marshall (Baberton) who was bidding to win the tournament for a seventh time.
Karen had beaten the 2014 winner, Ann Ramsay (Kirriemuir) by one hole in the other semi-final.
The Handicap competition for the Strathtyrum Salver was won by a high handicapper from Ireland, Elizabeth Doyle. Playing off 25 - only three inside the tournament limit - beat Cruden Bay's Lynne Terry (9) by 4 and 2 in the semi-finals and then won by 2 and 1 against Wendy Mitchell, who plays off 10 at Royal Lytham St Annes, in the final.
