Jillian Farrell holds Jasmine Mackintosh at bay to win girls' title

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Professional's daughter Jillian Farrell (Cardross), 17, beaten semi-finalist in the Scottish women's amateur championship at Royal Aberdeen last week, survived a last-round slump to an 80 (39-41) after earlier scores of 73 and 76 to win by two strokes with a 10-over-par total of 229. Jillian is pictured below

Hazlehead's Jasmine Mackintosh, despite a double bogey 7 at the 14th in the final round, following a triple bogey 7 at the 18th in her second round, finished second on 229 with scores of 78, 79 and 74.
Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore) finished third on 232 with rounds of 77, 77 and 78.

Inverallochy's Watt wins Stephen Gallacher boys' title,  Farrell top girl ahead of Mackintosh

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Inverallochy's Marc Watt, pictured below, came storming through with a final round of four-under 68 and a one-under total of 215 to win the Stephen Gallacher Foundation boys' tournament by five strokes at Macdonald Cardrona Golf Resort, Peebles.

Watt's earlier rounds of 71 and 76 had him trailing long-time leader Aidan O'Hagan (Old Ranfurly) but the Buchan boy's brilliant last round, reminiscent of another Inverallochy star of bygone days, Steven Young, enabled him to engineer a 10-stroke swing, O'Hagan dropping to third place with scores of 71, 73 and 78 for 222.
The Old Ranfurly player had five bogeys in a closing inward nine of 41.
Lewis Irvine (Kirkhill) came through into second place on 220 with three steady rounds of 73, 73 and 74.
