British Girls Open Amateur Championship match-play results

NO SCOTS MAKE IT THROUGH TO LAST 16 of BRITISH GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
There are no Scots in the last 16 of the British U18 girls' open amateur golf championship after a very wet first day for the match-play stages at Royal St David's Golf Club, Harlech in North Wales.
Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) lost by 3 and 1 in in the first round to Sweden's Pi-Lillebi Hermansson who was two up at the turn and then won the 10th.
Dubai-based Alison Murdoch, whose father is a Scot, was a 5 and 4 first-round winner against Raquel Olmos Ros but went down by two holes in the afternoon to Spain's Marta Perez Sanmartin who lost in last year's final at West Kilbride.
Murdoch, 17, lost the 10th to go one down and that's all there was between the players until Sanmartin won the 18th to clinch her victory.
Alison, 17, a +1 player who holds the Emirates Ladies Open title, is keen to play for Scotland but the fact that she lives a few thousand miles away in Dubai must be a problem for the Scottish Golf selectors.
