Lizzie Prior keeps grip on lead in English

women's amateur championship

FROM THE ENGLAND GOLF WEBSITE

International Lizzie Prior kept her grip on the lead in the English women’s amateur championship at West Lancashire and is two ahead going into the final round.
Prior, from Burhill in Surrey, is two-under for the championship after this morning’s one-over 75. At one point, after an eagle on the long eighth, she got to five-under, but dropped back on the homeward half with a bogey on 12 and a disappointing double on the 18th.
However, she kept herself clear of the third-round movers. International Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest) returned two-under 72 to take a share of second place on level par. Her round was of the up-and-down variety, with eight birdies, four bogeys and a double.
Lianna Bailey (Kirby Muxloe) also shares second place, having made ground with her one-under 73, which also included an eagle on the eighth.
Lancashire’s Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) shared the halfway lead with Prior, but scored 77 this morning to drop back into a tie with Clews and Bailey.
Kent’s Cloe Frankish was also a co-leader but is now tied 10th with Hollie Muse (West Lancashire) and Ellie Goodall (Selby).
