Bronte Law in the mix at Bruin Wave Invitational

English champion Bronte Law, a student at UCLA (University of California-Los Angeles), is lying in joint second place, one off the pace, after two rounds of the Bruin Wave Invitational college tournament at San Luis Obispo Country Club, California.

Bronte, pictured, from Bramhall, Cheshire, No 4 in the women's world amateur rankings, has had rounds of 72 and 70 for two-under-par 142 over a par-72 course of 6250yd.
Law had bogeys at the first and third but had an eagle 3 at the long seventh and birdies at the long 10th, long 11th and 13th before a bogey at the 16th.
Leading the field is UCLA team-mate Lilla Vu with 69 and 72 for 141.
Two members of the recently selected USA Curtis Cup team for the Dunlaoghaire GC, Dublin match in June, world No 15 Bethany Wu (UCLA) and world No 13 Monica Vaughn (Arizona State) are in  joint 15th and joint 20th positions respectively.
Wu has scored 73, 74 for 147; Vaughn 75, 74 for 149.
Charlotte Thomas (Washington), a candidate for the GB and I team slipped back to T26 after following a 73 with a 78 for 151.
Denver's Jessica Carty from Holywood, Belfast is on 162 (83-79).
UCLA lead the team event with 576, 10 ahead of Arizona State in a field of 16 teams.
