St Leonards Under 15 and Under 18 Golf Championships
NEWS RELEASE
The annual St Leonards Golf Championship took place earlier this week (a
rather soggy day) on the Eden and the Strathtyrum courses at St Andrews
but despite the weather the attendance at the event was fantastic.
There were 88 boys and girls from 11 different schools taking part in this increasingly popular competition.
St Leonards players certainly made use of the home advantage, securing nearly half the prizes available. This is testament to the St Leonards golf programme which is growing from strength to strength, year on year.
Well done to all who took part and let’s hope during next term we can continue our good start to the year.
The tournament was extremely well run and a big thank you goes to the St Andrews Links Trust who supplied staff and digital scoreboards along with two official RandA qualified referees.
+The Under-18 scratch boys' section was won by Nicholas Black from Bieldside, a Deeside Golf Club junior member and a pupil of Robert Gordon's College. Nicholas (16), elder son of GB and Ireland Curtis Cup captain, Elaine Farquharson Black, had a gross 74 over the Eden course.
