Good performance by Scot at Pinehurst Challege

Rachel Walker ties for third in field of 104

Rachel Walker (Old Dominion University) from Dumfries finished tied third in a field of  104 after a very good final round of four-under-par 68 at this week's Pinehurst Challenge women's college tournament over the Pinehurst No 1 course, North Carolina.
Rachel, beaten by Clara Young in this year's Scottish women's amateur championship final at Monifieth, had two earlier rounds of 71 and finished with a six-under-par aggregate of 210 - four strokes behind the winner, Alessandra Liu (William and Mary University), who had scores of 71,65 and 70 for 10-under 206 and a three-stroke victory from runner-up Emily Brooks (Elon University) (70-67-72).
A second Scot in the field, Monifieth's Heather Munro, a student at Elon University, tied in 29th place with former England girl international Heidi Baek (Maryland) from Norfolk.
Heather shot 74, 73 and 72 for 219 and Heidi had rounds of 75, 72 and 72. 
Elon University finished third in the team event won by East Carolina.

Nicola Robertson makes top 20 at Salisbury, N Carolina

Meanwhile, another Scot on the US women's college circuit, Stirling Golf Club member Nicola Robertson (King University) from Dunblane finished T17 in a field of 75 at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational at Country Club of Salisbury, North Carolina.
Over a par-72 course of 6,005yd, Nicola shot 75 and 84 for 159, 15 strokes behind the winner by three, Franziska Brenn (West Carolina) (71-73 for 144),
Robertson's English team-mates, Samantha  Taylor (76-80) and Elizabeth Swallow (80-76) finished T14  on 156
