Irvine student Stuart Easton tied 31st at

soggy Tennessee course

COLLEGE GROVE, Tennessee – Western Kentucky University men’s golf team battled through soggy conditions at The Grove Intercollegiate hosted by Middle Tennessee on Monday, shooting a 19-over 307 to place ninth heading into the final round on Tuesday.
Through two rounds, the Hilltoppers are 29-over after tallying a 605 (298-307). Kentucky, the No. 26 team in the nation in the latest Golfstat rankings, tops the team leaderboard with a five-over 581 (293-288) and holds a nine-stroke lead over second-place Lipscomb.
Trey Aguirre maintained his spot in the top 10 with a 77 on Monday, and his two-round 148 (71-77) has the senior in a six-way tie for eighth going into the final round. Aguirre’s best finish of the fall thus far came at the Kenny Perry Invitational two weeks ago where he tied for 21st.
Blake Smith’s position also remained nearly the same through the second round. The freshman is five-over with a 149 (73-76) and is tied for 14th with six other players. Smith earned the first top-10 finish of his career at last week’s Pinetree Intercollegiate and will be seeking his second consecutive such finish on Tuesday. 
Stuart Easton, a second-year student from Irvine, Ayrshire, has had a pair of 76s for 152 to be tied for 31st place.
Tyler McDaniel of Kentucky, the 10th-ranked golfer in the nation according the Golfstat, has a two-stroke lead on the field at five-under 139 (69-70).
