Jacques Leglise Trophy two-day boys' international

Scots play part as GB and I fight back to draw

with Continent of Europe at Royal Dornoch

Scots Calum Fyfe (Cawder) and Nairn's Sandy Scott played their part as Great Britain and Ireland fought back to gain a honourable draw - 12.5 to 12.5- with the Continent of Europe in the boys' golf international two-day match at Royal Dornoch Golf Club today (Saturday).
GB and I led by a point at the end of the first day but were hammered 0.5-3.5 in the foursomes. Scott and and Fyfe halved their match after the first three foursomes were won by the Contientals.
That meant the tables had been well and truly turned with GB and I going into the final session of singles trailing 7-9
But Peter McEvoy's team rolled up their sleeves and produced a stirring fightback which, at one stage, looked as if it would carry them to victory.
Fyfe won his singles tie by 3 and 2 but Scott, playing in the fnal match lost on the 18th green by one hole to Viktor Hovland (iNorway).
In the end it was a fair result between two evently matched teams
GB and I took the first-day honours 6.5 to 5.5 while the Continent "won" the second-day count by 7 to 6, thanks to the morning landslide in their favour today.
