Mid Leinster AIG Ladies Cups and Shields Finals
Tullamore Golf Club on August 29

  NEWS RELEASE FROM SARAH CROWE
The Mid Leinster Finals of the AIG Ladies Cups and Shields will take place at Tullamore Golf Club tomorrow (Saturday, August 29) The senior foursomes final will be a replica of the 2014 final as Enniscorthy take on the Heath once again.
Enniscorthy triumphed in 2014 to progress to the national finals but will face an uphill battle against their opponents this year as the Heath vie to gain the upper hand.

In a jam packed day at Tullamore, Castlecomer and Arklow will face off in the junior foursomes before the attention is turned to the singles matches. Birr and Enniscorthy will lead the singles charge as both clubs will make an effort to secure a pennant and progress to the All-Ireland finals at Knightsbrook. Mullingar will be hoping to dominate both the intermediate and minor cup when they take on Waterford and New Ross respectively, as they have teams in both finals. New Ross will be the hot favourites as they overcame Wicklow in the semi-final who are the reigning All-Ireland minor cup champions. Finally, the challenge cup finalists are Mount Juliet and Wicklow where both teams will be hoping to secure the competitive edge and overcome their opponent.

Impressive golf expected at the Championship County Sligo Golf Course

County Sligo Golf Club will host the Connacht AIG Ladies Cups and Shields Finals on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August.
2014 Champions Roscommon, Castlebar and Co. Longford have secured places in the final once more and will be hoping to complete the double. On Saturday, Roscommon and Co. Sligo will compete for the title of Connacht AIG senior foursomes champion and in the junior foursomes Bearna and Ballinrobe will both be hoping for glory but only one team can be crowned winners at the end of the day. Roscommon will be favourites to take home the green pennant in the senior foursomes as they are defending champions.

The junior cup will lead the singles matches on Sunday as Castlebar and Athenry prepare to face off once again. They will be followed by Loughrea and Co. Longford in the intermediate cup, as the latter will have their hopes pinned on retaining the title and progressing to the all-Ireland finals. Portumna and Ballina will face off in the minor cup while Bearna and Co. Sligo will battle it out for the challenge cup.  County Sligo Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the great championship links courses. It is located in the picturesque seaside village of Rosses Point just 8km from Sligo and known locally as “The Point”.

Castle and Malahide dominant clubs at AIG East Leinster Finals

The foursomes will lead the way in Blackbush on Sunday, 30 August. Castle junior cup team will have the first shot of the day as they tee off at 8.30 against Powerscourt. They will be followed by Castle’s senior foursomes team as they take on Woodbrook in the senior foursomes final.
The junior cup will follow these matches as Naas and Blackbush will do battle for the highly sought after green pennant. Blackbush will be hot favourites for the title as they have home advantage on their side but Naas as the underdogs have secured some substantial wins this season to get to the final and should not be underestimated. The K Club will take on Ashbourne in the minor cup as Newlands face Malahide in the intermediate cup. The challenge cup will also feature Malahide as they take on Elm Park in the final.  Black Bush golf course was designed by Bobby Brown and the course is set on 186 acres of parkland, with lush fairways, lined with mature trees and strategically placed bunkers.
