Fortrose and Rosemarkie conditions perfect but scoring high

Title-holder Ailsa Summers leads North of 
Scotland match-play qualifiers

Defending champion Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie) carried on where she left off last year by earning the No 1 seed berth in the match-play stages of the North of Scotland women's championship at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club.

The St Andrews University student, pictured, shot a 74 against the par of 71 (standard scratch 72) in today's qualifying round. 

Ailsa, a former St Rule Trophy winner, was followed by Laura Walker (Muckhart) with 75 and Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne) with 76.
In the handicap competition, lowest net was a 72 by Kirsten Watson of Deeside, playing off 21  followed by Sarah Irvine (Royal Dornoch) on 73.

On a perfect day for golf and a beautifully conditioned course low scores were expected from a quality field, but even in these benign conditions, this challenging course proved it still had bite, and scoring was relatively high across the board.
