NEWS RELEASE FROM DUKE UNIVERSITY, DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA
 Duke University rising sophomore Gurbani Singh, a team-mate of Leona Maguire and Celine Boutier who played in the Vagliano Trophy match on opposite sides in Belfast Friday-Saturday, played a flawless final round of three-under-par, 69, at the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour event played at the Royal Springs Golf Course in India to become the first amateur to win on the tour this year. 

After turning in a two-over-par, 74, in the second round, Singh carded birdies on No. 5, No. 12 and No. 18 on her way to a bogey-free final round of 69 as she finished with a 54-hole ledger of 211.  She won by five strokes over Vani Kapoor, Gursimar Badwal and Amandeep Drall (216).

 

The 2015 Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour comprises a total of 19 legs spanning across key locations in India.

 

A native of New Delhi, India, Singh turned in a 74.50 stroke average with two top 10 finishes and three top 20 placements as a rookie at Duke during the 2014-15 season.  She saved her best golf for the postseason as Singh finished sixth overall in the ACC Championship and tied 14th at the NCAA Championship.
