WALES WILL RETAIN TITLE IF THEY BEAT ENGLAND ON FRIDAY

SCOTS NO MATCH FOR ENGLAND AT

ABERDOVEY - BEATEN 7-2

A Scotland team weakened by an injury to Curtis Cup player Eilidh Briggs and the big exodus of young talent to American colleges were walloped 7-2 by England on Day 2 of the Women's Home Internationals at Aberdovey in Wales.
On Day 1, the Scots were beaten 6 1/2-2 1/2 by Wales.
England took the foursomes 3-0 and the singles 4-2.
Wales beat Ireland 5 1/2-3 1/2 today to be the only team with a 100 per cent record after two matches.
If Wales beat England on Friday, they keep the title. But if England can beat Wales and Ireland beat Scotland then three teams would finish with two wins apiece - and it might need a calculator to separate them.
