RENFREWSHIRE, LANARKSHIRE MAKE WINNING STARTS

WEST DIVISION JAMBOREE AT HAGGS CASTLE

Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire both got off to a fast start in the West Division women's inter-county team championship at Haggs Castle Golf Club, Glasgow today (Monday).

Renfrewshire beat Ayrshire 6 1/2-2 1/2 while Lanarkshire were winners by 5 1/2-3 1/2 over Dunbartonshire and Argyll

For Renfrewhire Curtis Cup player Eilidh Briggs had a good win playing in the foursomes with Katrina Milne and in the singles she comfortably beat Scottish championship beaten finalist Connie Jaffrey by 6 and 5..
Fiona Norris, Rachel Cassidy,Emma Caddow and Lauren d'Ambrosio all scored good wins for Lanarkshire.

Dunbartonshire and Argyll shared the singles 3-3 but trailed by 2pt from the morning foursomes.

Singles - Jaffrey lost to E Briggs 6 and 5, MacGarvie lost to Milne 6 and 4, J Linklater halved with Jackson, Allan bt Kyle 3 and 1, Thompson lost to M Briggs 4 and 2; Malcolm halved with Whyte (2-4).

LANARKSHIRE 51/2, DUNBARTONSHIRE and ARGYLL 2 1/2

Foursomes -  F Norris and J Potter bt C Hargan and J Farrell 3 and 2; R Cassidy amd L Lloyd bt N Ferguson and D Lavery 3 and 2; S McGrenaghan and S Wood halved with A Laing and A Baker (2 1/2-1/2)
Singles  - Norris  lost to Ferguson 4 and 3; Cassidy bt Farrell 4 and 2; E Caddow bt I McGeachy 3 and 2; L D'Ambrosio bt Hargan 3 and 1; McGrenaghan lost to Laing 2 holes; Potter lost to L Campbell 2 holes (3-3)
