ROYAL CO DOWN SALVER ON SUNDAY TEES OFF IRISH SCRATCH CUP CIRCUIT

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION

The first scratch event of the 2013 Irish ladies amateur golf season tees off at Royal Co. Down with their annual Scratch Salver 36 hole event on Sunday, March 24.
Defending champion Paula Grant (Lisburn) will set out to claim back-to-back titles while the Maguire twins Leona and Lisa are sure to grace the podium as Ireland’s top female players return to the fairways after the winter break. 
Hot on their heels will be the in form Jessica Carty (Holywood) and Chloe Ryan (Castletroy) who, like Grant,  have already performed impressively in overseas competition.
Local favourite Olivia Mehaffey (RCD Ladies) is also sure to feature as she kick starts her season that will hopefully include selection on the GB&I Junior Vagliano Trophy team to play Europe at the end of June.
The Royal Co. Down Scratch Salver, kindly sposored by Happy Dog, marks the first event of the ILGU's Scratch Cup Circuit which takes place over the coming weeks. 
Players will record four of their best performances from the six scratch events with the Champion crowned following the Zara Bolton Trophy at Royal Portrush on Sunday 19th May.
