Scotland's U18s boys' golf team, in with a chance of finishing joint second, eventually came  last of four in the three-day quadrangular international at Golf International de Pont Royal, Provence in the south of France today.
The Scots, who had done very well on Friday to draw with the host nationa, were leading 2-1 after the foursomes in their final match against pointless Sweden.
Sadly, they  nosedived in the singles, taking only 1 1/2pt from the six ties to lose 5 1/2-3 1/2 overall.
Calum Hill (Tantallon) was Scotland's only singles winner. Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) got the half point but there were defeats for Bradley Neil (Blairgowrie), Connor Syme (Dumfries and County), Alan Waugh (Cowglen) and George Burns (Williamwood).
Italy beat France 6-3 to win the title with 3pt out of three. France
(1 1/2pt) were second, Sweden (1pt) third and Scotland (1/2pt) fourth. Scotland's most successful players over the three days were Bradley Neil and Euan Walker, both with 3 1/2pt out of a possible six.
