THREE BRITS IN LAST 16 OF FLORIDA MATCH-PLAY TOURNAMENT
Stirling University students Kelsey MacDonald and Hannah McCook plus Wentworth teenager Angela Dimmock are through to the last 16 of the Jones-Doherty match-play championship, this week's event on the Orange Blossom Tour for amateur women in Florida.
MacDonald, the top seed and Nairn Dunbar GC member, beat Stirling team-mate Mhairi McKay, the 32nd qualifier from West Kilbride, by 7 and 6 in the first round at Coral Ridge Country Club, Fort Lauderdale.
Kelsey will now play the 17th qualifier Rachel Smith.
McCook, the seventh seed from Nethy Bridge and a member at Grantown on Spey GC, beat 26th qualifier Amy Young by 4 and 3 and now plays Ashlan Ramsey, the 10th qualifier.
Ramsay beat Stirling student Jordana Graham from Southerness, the 23rd qualifier, by 6 and 5.
Dimmock, the ninth seed,was a winner by 4 and 2 over 24th qualifier Kendall Griffin. Her next opponent is 25th qualifier Ashley Burke who beat eighth seed Chloe Rogers from Braintree GC, Essex by 5 and 3.
Daniela Lendl, seeded No 2, won her first tie by 5 and 4 against Stirling student Georgia Gilling, the 23rd qualifier, from Essex.
