Kelsey MacDonald has moved up to sixth place at the halfway stage of the Harder Hall Invitational, the opening event of Florida's Orange Blossom Tour for amateur women.
The Stirling University student (pictured) and Nairn Dunbar GC member matched the par of 72 for her second circuit of the Sebring course - an improvement of one stroke on her Day 1 effort - and a one-over tally of 145 leaves her four shots behind the joint leaders, Erica Popson (Davenport, Florida) and 13-year-old Mika Liu (Bradenton, Florida).
Popson, a student at the University of Tennessee, played for the United States in last June's Curtis Cup match at Nairn GC and won four US college events off the reel in 2011, which had her ranked in the world's top 10 female amateurs. She is currently No 82 in the WWAGR.
Popson has shot 71-70 for three-under-141, which young Liu has equalled with scores of 66 and 75.
They lead by two from Hannah Pietila (Brighton, Michigan) (72-71) and Ashlan Ramsey (Milledgeville, Georgia) (73)71).
Filling fifth place a shot ahead of MacDonald is Jiaxin Yang from Haikou, China, with scores of 73-71.
There were two Scots in the top 15 with Kilmacolm's Eilidh Briggs, also a Stirling student, sharing 12th place with a pair of 74s for 148.
Wentworth's 16-year-old Annabel Dimmock, who had opened well with a 71, slipped back to joint 20th place with a 79 for 150.
